Jenny Tynes
writer & editor
Fiction
My manuscript HAT & CACKLE is a picture-book finalist in the 2026 Pacific Northwest Writers Association Unpublished Literary Contest. Another manuscript was previously a PNWA finalist in the YA category, and my speculative verse-novel manuscript ELEVENTH WINTER won the SCBWI 2023 Work-in-Progress Award in YA. I’m an alum of the Centrum Artist Residency and the SCBWI WWA Mentorship Program. I am seeking representation.
Poetry
My poems have appeared in Poetry, California Quarterly, Poetry Daily, Magic: The Gathering, Washington Queer Poetry Anthology, and elsewhere. I earned an M.F.A. in creative writing with a poetry emphasis and was the recipient of an individual artist’s grant from the Constance Saltonstall Foundation.
Editing
As an editor I’ve worked on a variety of projects in both full-time and freelance roles: Amazing Stories magazine, M:TG novels, Rat City Roller Girls trading cards, the literary journal Epoch, the weekly newspaper The Stranger, all kinds of tabletop games and accessories, and others. While I’m not actively looking for more editing work right now, I’m tempted by interesting projects with good people. Use the form below to inquire.
